Tanjore Paintings
Tanjore painting is a traditional form of Indian painting that started in Thanjavur (also known as Tanjore) in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is notable for its vibrant colours, complex detailing, and use of gold foil. The paintings often portray Hindu gods, goddesses, and saints and are distinguished by a distinct compositional style that places the primary figure in the centre and is flanked by smaller figures or ornamental embellishments.
The brilliant colours used in the paintings, such as red, blue, green, and gold, are also well-known.The preparation of the canvas, drawing of the design, application of gold foil and other embellishments, and painting of the Tanjore painting are all parts in the process.
